Computer simulations and scale model field tests prove the Sterling Accelerator Wind Turbine technology increases wind speed by at least 200-250% and net power density by 10-15 times, thus allowing for very small diameter blades, (25-40 meters instead of 120-150 meters) meaning stronger, higher speed turbines, to make a 3-6 times larger amount of power; 20 to 30 Megawatts verses a mere 5 Megawatts for the largest existing technology 3 blade turbines. The Sterling Accelerator Wind Turbine Makes Gale Force Jet Engine Speed Wind out of low-speed marginal wind areas with lower ambient wind speeds, (17-19mph).
The Sterling Accelerator Wind Turbine will make its full rated power at a much lower wind speeds of 22-24mph, and also at higher ambient wind speeds; all the way up to 100mph.
This wind acceleration technology advantage translates directly into the Sterling Accelerator Wind Turbine earning full power revenues for approximately double or treble the annual operating hours in most offshore locations.
Sterling Accelerator Wind Turbine Rated Power will be 300% to 400% higher per unit of capital.
Capital Costs of building and installing the turbine are the key expense in wind power.
Existing 3-blade 5MW REW units cost around US$25 million each, installed in shallow water in the UK. That’s about $5 million per Megawatt. It they only received natural gas parity prices of 10 cents/Kw hour, they would generate only $2.31 million per year in gross electricity sales.
